9-11 October in Tirana, Albania

The10th Workshop of the South-East Europe Regional Approach to Stockpile Reduction (RASR) of Conventional Weapons and Munitions was held from 9-11 October in Tirana, Albania.
RASR's workshops are an opportunity for Defence Ministry and General Staff officials to share best practices, build relationships, and learn about the technical and financial assistance that is available for stockpile management in the region.
The workshop was funded by the European Union through its Council Decision 2016/2356/CFSP and focused on topics related to progress, challenges, and priorities in destroying the ammunition surpluses and managing the stockpiles, including harmonizing of security and safety requirements for ammunition storage.
Invitees included representatives from Ministries of Defence from the region as well as representatives of the donor countries and international organizations involved in this area.
The workshops organized under this regional initiative constitute another effort in strengthening the national capacities to address the threats posed by excess, unstable, loosely secured or otherwise at-risk stockpiles of conventional weapons and munitions through regional cooperation and exchange of expertise in South East Europe.
